Life's Train

Life is like a train journey
Between every destination that we behold
Some of us travel on that train
Waiting for the destination to arrive
Others looking backward and feeling nostalgic
And some just want the journey to continue
With no longing for destination to arrive

People come aboard and sit for a while
Others ride short distances
Each travel with a different purpose to a different destination
And each has a different story to tell
We make friends, fall in love in that short journey
And share our journey for sometime along
But then we all have to leave to board another train

In our lives, we all have missed certain destined train
Boarded a random train that changed our destination
Left a journey at a random midpoint station
And that has shaped our life the way it is
Such is the life's train but only going forward
Once you board a train leading to a destination
There is no turning back
Only a glimpse of the boarding station and then gone forever...

  1. You have presented us with numerous very apt similes, Ankita! You are right, even if we board the same train, in the end "each has a different story to tell."

  3. Life is such! One has choices and along the way many challenges come our way. Decision once taken has to be followed through. Experience helps show the way, though! Truly said Ankita!

  4. Interesting take on life's journey as train travel. I'm at the stage where I want it go on longer - much longer. Hee hee. I'll spread eagle at the door at the final station and refuse to disembark! (will that work?)

  7. Yes no turning back of a train. Lovely how you wove the combination of life journey and trains into this.

  11. On a train journey, one can get some of the best experiences of life. Your perspective is beautifully written in the form of this poem. Life is like a never ending train journey..people change, stations change, but it journey continues. Like Robert Frost said.Life goes on...
